A man from Iraq

I recently took a bread from Burkhof Sytematic Theology and read " Saddam's Secrets". I highly recommend it. It is not the best literature read but it is very enlightening and encouraging. It is written by General Georges Sada who was in charge of Saddam's air force. He is famous for a lot of things but two of the big ones is that he is known for his incredible honesty and for publically confronting Sadam 17 times and is alive to tell about it. He recently came to our church and I got to meet him and get his autograph in his book. He is currently touring the country with Terry Law and is giving his testimonies in churches all over the United States.

Gen. Sada has been a born again believer since the 60's. No other christian has risen as high in Saddam's rank as he has. For all intense purposes he is the equivalent of a modern day Daniel. He rose in rank in an evil empire by following the Lord. At times when other men would have been killed, Gen. Sada was given grace, respect, and honor.

When I read his book I kept comming to the conclusion that I really didn't know how bad it was in Iraq. I thought it was bad but I didn't really know. I always thought that Saddam was more stupid than he was mean but, no kidding, he excelled in both. His cruelty can only be measured by his stupidity. He surrounded himself with weak men who lived in fear for their lives and their families lives if they did not do what he commanded. His plan was simple. Do what you are told or you will die. You may think that Saddam had people do his dirty work for him but not as much as you would think. If someone was far away then he would either send someone to kill them or have them brought to him to be killed. He also had ex KGB and SS people working for him to do the majority of his tortures and murders. Gen. Sada wrote about how there was a brilliant neurological surgeon who made some off handed comments about Saddam. A couple of weeks later he summoned him, had 50 men trample him to death, and then let starved dogs eat him.

If ever there was a country for a man, Iraq was it. There really was no Iraq. There was only Saddam. He didn't have to confir with anyone. The country did as Saddam did. It was nothing for him to starve hundreds of thousands of people so that he could do what he wanted. People lived in fear every day. Someone may not even be against him but could very easily be a target of his desires. I or anyone is fooling themselves if they think that they could really know what it was like if you haven't lived it.

Getting back to Gen. Sada. He is solely responsible for saving potentially millions of lives. During the first war, Saddam had the plan in place to attack Israel with WMD. Gen. Sada was the only one who stood up and confronted Saddam. Had he been afraid of his own life and not put it on the line, Saddam surely would have followed through with his plan and Irsreal surely would have retaliated with extreme prejudice. Saddam didn care. His idea was that if he is going down then he will take as many friend or foe with him.

It is amazing how one single person could have affected the world in such a dramatic and deadly way. If you were to release Charles Manson and give him complete immunity from any further actions and then give him a country, you would have an idea of what Sadam was doing or wanted to do. It seems that the only restraint that Sadam had was Gen. Sada. Only by the divine grace of God could Sada do what he did. His actions were no less than the actions of Daniels friends when they wouldn't bow down. Qusay, one of Sadam's sons, actually ordered the execution of Gen. Sada but here he is today.

The biggest impression that I got from Gen. Sada was not that he was a great warrior for the Kingdom of God but that he was a humble man who was only loyal to his Savior no matter what the cost. That in turn made him a great warrior for the Kingdom of God.

If you want to know what was really going on then get his book.
